Sugar Maple bounty from Love Farm's 200+ acre forest is harvested in late winter through early Spring, (mid March-late April). Pre-orders encouraged.

Healthy shallow footprints

We gather sap with small diameter stainless steel taps, 2' of food grade tubing and food grade #2 buckets with lids. We do the majority of our sap cook in two 60 gallon food grade stainless steel cauldrons using propane torches and a wood burning retort that generates soil enhancing biochar instead of ash. This means we put most of the carbon from the wood fire back in the ground. We primarily burn standing or fallen dead wood from our land, no live trees are cut for fuel.  The final cook to syrup happens in stainless stock pots on our kitchen gas range and on a high efficiency wood stove that also heats our home, so we're getting double duty whenever were burning wood. We use only water, plant based soap and food grade hydrogen peroxide to clean and sterilize our equipment.

Dark Energy - Maple Syrup with Sugar Sand

Dark Energy, Love Farm's final run of Maple Syrup for 2022 is dense with forest flavor and features naturally occurring fine mineral sugar sand, a spectacular boon that commercial producers ignorantly filter out and discard. Our crack team of wizards, shamans and yogis have confirmed through rigorous divination that Dark Energy provides a full on physicality upgrade. Gently pour off the clear Maple Syrup on top for a conventional experience or stir vigorously  to create a sparkling slurry of syrup and sugar sand. Canned in heat sterilized glass, refrigerate after opening.

Contributing to Love Farm automatically makes you a protector of the wilds and an advocate for poison free local ecosystems. Because of the high elevation of Love Farm's fields and forest, we start the flows for both the Platte River and Crystal Lake Watersheds. That's an exciting responsibility, and why we aspire to set the highest standard for water stewardship in Benzie County. Our aesthetic of wilds alignment insures the headwaters of our shared lakes and rivers remain pristine. Our down steam activism is about preventing the release of endocrine warping chemicals like herbicides, fungicides and pesticides.
